vintage-ornate-gilt-framed-romantic-painting-brights-of-nettlebed
Vintage Ornate Gilt Framed Romantic Painting – Brights of Nettlebed

An ornate gilt-framed romantic picture showing a couple in an embrace, set within a richly moulded carved acanthus-leaf frame. The frame has a gold finish with heavy moulding and scrolled corners; the painted work is signed (appears to read 'Mc Kerchie') and the reverse bears a Brights of Nettlebed label and a hand-painted reproduction authenticity sticker.

The frame is decorative and would suit traditional interiors where a heavy gilt frame is required as a focal point. The picture and frame appear to be a later decorative or reproduction piece rather than an original period oil.

Dimensions

Width: 57 cm

Depth: 9 cm

Height: 63 cm

Condition

Structurally the frame appears sound and the picture is secure. The gilt finish shows surface scratches, scuffs and areas of discolouration, including greenish staining and some small areas of gilt loss revealing a coloured underlayer. Close inspection shows fine surface lines or scratches across the lower section of the painted panel which may be surface marks or craquelure in the paint/varnish. There are minor chips and paint losses on the moulding edges and some darker soiling in recesses consistent with age.

Delivery Information

Please note that all of our deliveries are carried out by a one-man delivery service.
