Most mainland UK locations are covered by our standard £65 furniture delivery service, with a reduced local delivery rate of £30 available within 15 miles of Bourne End SL8.

Some remote or harder-to-reach areas may require a different delivery charge, so please check our Delivery Information page before ordering or contact us if unsure.

Furniture deliveries are carried out by one-man couriers, so assistance will usually be required to help unload the item at delivery. Delivery is generally to the door, although some drivers may assist further at their own discretion.

We aim to deliver most furniture items within 10 working days, depending on location and courier routes.

We aim to describe the condition of every item as honestly and accurately as possible, with any notable wear, repairs, damage or imperfections clearly shown in both the description and photographs.

Established since 2005, we have built a strong knowledge of interiors, antiques and period furniture, allowing us to confidently identify and catalogue our pieces.

Description

This is a rugged and characterful vintage pine storage box. It features a unique side-opening door, rather than a top lid, which makes it very practical for use as a small cupboard or organizer. The top is fitted with a substantial, original brass "swing" handle, showing its history as a portable chest.

The box is built with traditional joinery and has a wonderful, aged pine color. This is a very versatile piece that could be used in a home office for stationary, in a kitchen as a rustic bread bin, or in a workshop for tool storage. It’s a solid, authentic bit of industrial history that fits perfectly with a rustic or "modern farmhouse" interior.

Condition

This chest is in honest, vintage condition. As expected with an item of this age, there are marks and scratches throughout.

Build: The pine is solid and heavy-duty. There is no major structural damage.
Mechanism: The side door hinges are original and work well, though it may have originally had an internal shelf or drawers that are no longer present.
Hardware: The brass handle is firm and has a lovely dark patina.
Surface: The wood has a lot of "patina," including old scuffs and a weathered texture that gives it its character.
