Delivery & Collection

Most mainland UK locations are covered by our standard £65 furniture delivery service, with a reduced local delivery rate of £30 available within 15 miles of Bourne End SL8.

Some remote or harder-to-reach areas may require a different delivery charge, so please check our Delivery Information page before ordering or contact us if unsure.

Furniture deliveries are carried out by one-man couriers, so assistance will usually be required to help unload the item at delivery. Delivery is generally to the door, although some drivers may assist further at their own discretion.

We aim to deliver most furniture items within 10 working days, depending on location and courier routes.

Collection is also welcome from our Bourne End showroom:

Condition & Authenticity

We aim to describe the condition of every item as honestly and accurately as possible, with any notable wear, repairs, damage or imperfections clearly shown in both the description and photographs.

Established since 2005, we have built a strong knowledge of interiors, antiques and period furniture, allowing us to confidently identify and catalogue our pieces.

If you would like a more detailed condition report, additional photographs or a walkaround video via WhatsApp or SMS, we are always happy to help.

Please contact us at furniture_@live.co.uk with any enquiries.

A More Sustainable Choice

Choosing antique and reclaimed furniture is one of the most sustainable ways to furnish a home.

Older furniture was often built using solid timber and traditional craftsmanship designed to last for generations, rather than a few years.

By giving these pieces a new home, you help reduce demand for mass-produced furniture while keeping beautiful, characterful items in circulation for years to come.

Description

This genuine mid-19th-century piece is a masterclass in Victorian veneer work. The two cupboard doors feature arched "cathedral" panels with stunning book-matched flame mahogany veneers, creating a symmetrical and highly decorative wood grain effect. The sideboard is flanked by two carved corbels at the shoulders and sits on a solid, deep plinth base.

The upper section features a tiered chiffonier-style gallery back supported by elegant turned spindles, perfect for displaying glassware or silverware. Storage is ample, including two concealed "blind" drawers in the frieze and a large double cupboard with an internal fixed shelf. The deep, rich patina and substantial build quality mark this as a piece of significant heritage and class.

Condition

The sideboard is in original antique condition with visible character wear consistent with its 150+ year history:

  • Veneer: There are areas of chipped veneer and historic losses, most notably a patch on the lower left cupboard door and along the edges of the plinth base (see detail photos).

  • Base: The substantial plinth base shows significant scuffing, historic marks, and some finish wear from decades of use.

  • Surface: The main tabletop and gallery show authentic aged wear, including light scratches and minor indentations.

  • Build: Structurally massive and very heavy. The doors and drawers are functional, though there is no key present for the locks.

Dimensions

  • Total Height: 122 cm

  • Surface Height: 91.5 cm

  • Width: 91 cm

  • Depth: 42 cm

NOTE: This is an exceptionally heavy and substantial solid wood item. All delivery options are one-man deliveries and multiple strong adults will be required to assist with unloading.
