Delivery & Collection
Most mainland UK locations are covered by our standard £65 furniture delivery service, with a reduced local delivery rate of £30 available within 15 miles of Bourne End SL8.
Some remote or harder-to-reach areas may require a different delivery charge, so please check our Delivery Information page before ordering or contact us if unsure.
Furniture deliveries are carried out by one-man couriers, so assistance will usually be required to help unload the item at delivery. Delivery is generally to the door, although some drivers may assist further at their own discretion.
We aim to deliver most furniture items within 10 working days, depending on location and courier routes.
Collection is also welcome from our Bourne End showroom:

A More Sustainable Choice
A More Sustainable Choice
Choosing antique and reclaimed furniture is one of the most sustainable ways to furnish a home.
Older furniture was often built using solid timber and traditional craftsmanship designed to last for generations, rather than a few years.
By giving these pieces a new home, you help reduce demand for mass-produced furniture while keeping beautiful, characterful items in circulation for years to come.

Description
This is a charming and characterful Victorian chair crafted from solid mahogany with a rich, warm finish. The iconic "balloon" shaped backrest is supported by an ornate hand-carved central splat featuring scrolled leaf motifs. The chair is further elevated by its robust and shapely turned front legs and simple splayed back legs.
The seat is upholstered in a dark, textured material (likely an early faux-leather or heavily patinated hide). With its classic proportions and historic detail, this chair serves perfectly as a decorative bedroom chair, a desk chair, or a standalone accent piece. It is a genuine 19th-century item with a great "lived-in" antique aesthetic.
Condition
The chair is in authentic antique condition with significant signs of age and historic wear:
-
The Frame: There are visible historic repairs and joints visible on the curved backrest (see detail photos).
-
Surface: The mahogany finish shows a deep patina with various scuffs, scratches, and minor finish loss throughout, consistent with 150+ years of use.
-
Upholstery: The seat covering is heavily distressed, showing significant surface cracking, peeling, and a small tear at the front corner. It would be an excellent candidate for reupholstery.
-
Build: The frame is structurally complete, though typical for its age, there may be very minor historic movement in the joints.
