Delivery & Collection

Most mainland UK locations are covered by our standard £65 furniture delivery service, with a reduced local delivery rate of £30 available within 15 miles of Bourne End SL8.

Some remote or harder-to-reach areas may require a different delivery charge, so please check our Delivery Information page before ordering or contact us if unsure.

Furniture deliveries are carried out by one-man couriers, so assistance will usually be required to help unload the item at delivery. Delivery is generally to the door, although some drivers may assist further at their own discretion.

We aim to deliver most furniture items within 10 working days, depending on location and courier routes.

Collection is also welcome from our Bourne End showroom:

Condition & Authenticity

We aim to describe the condition of every item as honestly and accurately as possible, with any notable wear, repairs, damage or imperfections clearly shown in both the description and photographs.

Established since 2005, we have built a strong knowledge of interiors, antiques and period furniture, allowing us to confidently identify and catalogue our pieces.

If you would like a more detailed condition report, additional photographs or a walkaround video via WhatsApp or SMS, we are always happy to help.

Please contact us at furniture_@live.co.uk with any enquiries.

A More Sustainable Choice

Choosing antique and reclaimed furniture is one of the most sustainable ways to furnish a home.

Older furniture was often built using solid timber and traditional craftsmanship designed to last for generations, rather than a few years.

By giving these pieces a new home, you help reduce demand for mass-produced furniture while keeping beautiful, characterful items in circulation for years to come.

Description

This is an authentic 19th-century pine chest, originally used for storing linens and blankets. It is constructed from solid pine planks with a simple, honest design that highlights the wood's aged patina. Inside, it retains its original built-in candle box—a smaller side compartment used to keep candles or small valuables separate from the main storage area.

The chest sits on a sturdy base with square-cut legs and features traditional iron strap hinges. Its generous size and flat top make it a versatile addition to a home, serving perfectly as a rustic coffee table, a toy box, or storage at the foot of a bed. This piece carries a true sense of history and "primitive" charm.

Condition

This trunk is in original antique condition and is sold as a characterful restoration project:

  • Repairs: There is a visible historic repair to one leg/corner (see detail photos).

  • Surface: The top has some visible wood filler used in historic cracks and gaps. There are significant marks, scratches, and a split to the top boards consistent with its age. One corner of the lid shows a reddish historic paint mark.

  • Hardware: The original iron hinges are present and functional. Note: There is no key included for the lock.

  • Build: The carcass remains solid and heavy, though the wood shows signs of historic movement and contraction gaps between planks.

Dimensions

  • Height: 64 cm

  • Width: 97 cm

  • Depth: 57 cm

NOTE: This is a heavy, substantial item. All delivery options are one-man deliveries and assistance will be required unloading.
