Delivery & Collection

Most mainland UK locations are covered by our standard £65 furniture delivery service, with a reduced local delivery rate of £30 available within 15 miles of Bourne End SL8.

Some remote or harder-to-reach areas may require a different delivery charge, so please check our Delivery Information page before ordering or contact us if unsure.


Furniture deliveries are carried out by one-man couriers, so assistance will usually be required to help unload the item at delivery. Delivery is generally to the door, although some drivers may assist further at their own discretion.


We aim to deliver most furniture items within 10 working days, depending on location and courier routes.


Collection is also welcome from our Bourne End showroom:

Condition & Authenticity

We aim to describe the condition of every item as honestly and accurately as possible, with any notable wear, repairs, damage or imperfections clearly shown in both the description and photographs.


Established since 2005, we have built a strong knowledge of interiors, antiques and period furniture, allowing us to confidently identify and catalogue our pieces.

Description

A graceful example of late 19th-century furniture, this side chair is crafted from solid walnut with a rich, warm finish. The design is notably refined, featuring a tapering backrest with two horizontal rails and elegant "finial" style uprights. It stands on delicate turned front legs and slender splayed back legs, connected by a turned stretcher.

The seat features an original-style woven cane (rattan) panel, which provides a light and airy feel. Due to its slender construction and ornate detailing, this chair is best suited as a decorative accent piece for a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. It is a true period item that captures the "Aesthetic Movement" of the Victorian era.

Condition

The chair is in original antique condition and is sold as a decorative item:

  • The Frame: There is slight movement in the joints, which is typical for chairs of this delicate design and age.

  • Details: Several of the decorative white circular "plugs" or inserts are missing from the backrail joints (see detail photos).

  • Cane Seat: The woven cane is in fair condition and retains good tension, though it shows light age-related wear to the edges and small breaks/gaps.

  • Surface: The walnut finish shows a lovely historic patina with minor scuffs, light scratches, and small dings consistent with its age.

  • Practicality: Please note that this is an ornate piece designed for decorative use rather than as a heavy-duty dining or desk chair.
