Condition & Authenticity

We aim to describe the condition of every item as honestly and accurately as possible, with any notable wear, repairs, damage or imperfections clearly shown in both the description and photographs.

Established since 2005, we have built a strong knowledge of interiors, antiques and period furniture, allowing us to confidently identify and catalogue our pieces.

If you would like a more detailed condition report, additional photographs or a walkaround video via WhatsApp or SMS, we are always happy to help.

Please contact us at furniture_@live.co.uk with any enquiries.

A More Sustainable Choice

Choosing antique and reclaimed furniture is one of the most sustainable ways to furnish a home.

Older furniture was often built using solid timber and traditional craftsmanship designed to last for generations, rather than a few years.

By giving these pieces a new home, you help reduce demand for mass-produced furniture while keeping beautiful, characterful items in circulation for years to come.

Condition

Figure and pedestal structurally sound though showing age-related surface wear and oxidation. Scratches, scuffs and rubbing visible across the finish; hole in one foot indicates a missing fixing. Replacement white plastic globe fitted; electrical condition untested and should be inspected before use.

A decorative Victorian-style figural table lamp featuring the Roman messenger god Mercury (Hermes) captured in a dynamic pose, balancing on one foot while supporting the lamp fitting. The figure appears to be cast in spelter with a dark bronze-effect patinated finish and stands on an ornate circular pedestal decorated with classical cherubs. The lamp is fitted with a later replacement white plastic globe shade.

Dimensions

Condition

Structurally the figure and pedestal are intact but there is visible wear to the surface finish throughout. The dark patinated finish shows scratches, scuffs, rubbing and areas of surface oxidation, particularly on the raised details and pedestal. One of the figure's feet has a visible hole suggesting a missing fixing or previous attachment. The upper lamp fitting shows age-related wear and the white plastic globe is a later replacement and not original. The electrical condition has not been tested and the lamp should be inspected and rewired by a qualified electrician before use.
