This authentic small chest is crafted from solid Indian Hardwood. The design is heavily influenced by traditional Indian campaign-style furniture, featuring decorative iron corner brackets and strapwork that provide both strength and visual character.
The box features a hinged lid with a central iron ring handle and a matching iron latch mechanism (hasp) on the front. Sitting on a simple flared base, this box carries a rugged, "found object" appeal that works beautifully in bohemian, rustic, or eclectic interiors.
Condition
The box is in honest vintage condition with a natural aged patina:
Surface: The wood shows light scuffs, historic marks, and natural color variations consistent with its hand-made nature.
Interior: The inside is clean but shows some historic surface staining and "flecking" to the wood at the bottom (see detail photos).
